On July 2nd Steve Verelst, owner of Stevokitesurf.com trained the lifeguards from De Panne. It is the first time ever a Belgian kitesurfschool organizes such a training. The goal was to teach them everything about kites so they can help kitesurfers in need. It took about 3 hours to teach 35 lifeguards everything about kitesurfing. We finished the course with a training on the water so the they could practice how to pick up the kite and kitesurfer. We think this is a good example how everybody can work together to assure the safety of the kitesurfers. Maybe the governement can learn from this initiative.

This year finally a KBO with wind! The last 6 years most of the time there wasn’t any wind during the event. The main focus was on the young riders this year. On Saturday and Sunday we had some light wind sessions so I could ride on my 13m hifi comp. I was able to have some nice freeride sessions. The forcast for Monday was good but the wind wasn’t really there so I had a SUP session on an Oxbow board.
A bit later suddenly the wind kicked in. I had a nice session on my 9m hifi comp. It was really cool to see everybody again. But after three amusing days it was time to go back home to run the school. I hope to shoot some nice action soon, so stay tuned!
