1st at the Black sea cup 2009

I was invited by Best kiteboarding to attend the Black sea cup in Russia. A day after the Belgian championship I was already on a plane direction Moscow. Once I arrived I went with the train to Andrews place (best representative in Russia) But I lost my way somewhere in Moscow. I had now clue where I was. So I decided to take a taxi. Hard to find, but finally found one!

Andrew showed me the most famous places in Moscow. Pretty cool. In the morning we left early to the airport to go to Anapa, the place where the competition was organized. At 12 o’clock I arrived at the spot and I was really impressed.

Perfect wind for 8m nemi and super flat water. The competition was running already but I still had some time because they started with amateurs. So I warmed-up a little bite. Andrew had already a camera crew ready to film al my moves. Great! There will be a nice video from this soon! After a couple of hours they started the pro competition. I was feeling very comfortable with the conditions. I had one of my smoothes heats ever. They where able to run the competition until half finals. So fare it went perfect and the people enjoyed my riding. After the success from the first day, the wind dropped.

So I learned some Russian traditions. Russian vodka : not good for me. On Friday there was still no wind but the weekend was looking promising! So Friday we went to the cable park. It was my second time ever on the cable but I was feeling more comfortable then last time. Tried to hit the sliders en kickers too witch was super nice. At the end I was even able to pass it afterwards, super nice!
Saturday finally wind again! I was looking forward to kite again. With my 12m I was well powered so it was perfect. I had to go up against the champion of Russia. He was one of the best riders, riding pretty powered. I felt so good with the conditions and I was just landing everything so I advanced to the final and ended first. So I won the singles of the black sea cup!

Afterwards they run small parts of the doubles. So there was some time to train. I landed a couple of powered slims to wrapped which were super nice! Also I am getting more stable in my KGB to blind sometimes even pass. So a perfect Russian day!

Sunday was the last day of the competition. The wind got stronger. I was perfectly powered on my 7 waroo. I had to wait quite long so I watched some movies. It was pretty cold.

After a while I had to ride the final again against Evgeny Novojeev I felt super good had some powered mobes, onehanded stuff, lowbackmobe and super clean low frontmobe so I won the doubles! 1st at the Blacksea cup!
In the evening there was price ceremony. Just before the podium I was celebrating my victory with the Best kiteboarding team Russian style.

Monday I had to go home. Russia was a great experience and I am looking forward to go back to Anapa. I almost missed my connection to Anapa, Moscow, Brussels. In Moscow I run for my live to catch the flight. But I made it at the gate 1min before closing time. In Belgium my bags did not arrive. Hopefully I will get them one of the next days.
